On September 15th, the President of Portugal, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, graced Toronto with his presence. The FPCBP attended an exclusive gathering at the Portuguese Diaspora Exhibit. Here, Prime Minister Trudeau, Mayor Olivia Chow, and President Sousa addressed our community leaders, emphasizing the strong bonds between our nations.
Later in the day, the prestigious President’s Dinner took place at The National Club on 303 Bay St. The FPCBP proudly supported this event, extending invitations to our founders, past presidents, and current board members. With approximately 400 Luso-Canadians in attendance, we commemorated the President’s visit, recognizing the 70th anniversary of the arrival of the first significant wave of Portuguese immigrants. It was a momentous occasion for us to show our support and solidarity during this historic visit.
