2026 FPCBP Portuguese Heritage Essay Contest Application

The Federation of Portuguese Canadian Business and Professionals takes great pleasure in once again acknowledging the exceptional accomplishments of Luso-Canadian Youth from the Province of Ontario.

We are delighted to announce the commencement of the 2026 edition of our FPCBP Portuguese Heritage Essay Contest, generously supported by various sponsors, offering multiple prizes of $250 each.

These Awards will be bestowed during an in-person ceremony on Saturday, June 20, coinciding with Portuguese Heritage Month.

Eligibility for participation:
– Requires students to be Ontario residents enrolled in Grades 7-12, and they must meet the criteria outlined for Portuguese descent as detailed in the application guidelines, outlined below, and declaration, on the last page of the submission.

Guidelines and Rules:
– Entries should address the provided questions and may be composed in either English or Portuguese.
– Essays must be double-spaced and not exceed 500 words.
– While students may submit one essay in each language, they are eligible to win only one prize.
– Essays containing the student’s name will be considered ineligible. Essays must be submitted solely in PDF format.

Important Points to Consider:
– All applications must be electronically submitted via the provided application portal by the deadline of April 26, 2026, at 11:59 PM (EST).
– Submissions via email will not be accepted.
– Incomplete applications will not be considered for review.
– Only successful candidates will receive communication regarding their application status.

Recipients of Prizes:
– Prize recipients are required to attend the Awards Ceremony presentation on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at the Consulate General of Portugal in Toronto to receive their award and certificate.
– Recipients must provide consent for the publication of their essay and photograph in the ceremony booklet and on our official website: www.fpcbp.com.
